This interactive virtual course provides instruction in the foundational techniques of fabric draping and pattern drafting for creating a skirt. An adjustable Prym dress form will be shipped directly to your location prior to the course beginning. You'll participate in live online sessions via Zoom, where experienced instructors will guide you through draping techniques and professional pattern-making processes.
Course Duration and Session Structure:
The course spans four consecutive weeks, with each online session lasting two hours, totaling eight hours of instruction. During these sessions, you'll learn the fundamental principles of draping a skirt using muslin fabric and create a scaled pattern derived from your draped design; this pattern can then be used to cut and construct an actual skirt.
Materials You Will Need:
Upon registration, a Prym adjustable dress form will be shipped to you. Additionally, you'll need to obtain three yards of lightweight muslin, tailor's chalk, quilter's pins, pattern paper, a mechanical pencil, clear Scotch tape, a beveled ruler, and a French curve tool. All virtual course sessions are professionally recorded. In case you're unable to attend a live session or wish to review instructional content, you can request access to the recording. Only the instructor will appear in the video recording; these recordings are made available exclusively to students enrolled in the course.
