This online class is for those who would like to combine creative writing and visual art. In this course, students will learn the role of creative writing in current photo-based art and artist book practices. The class will analyze the work of artists who use creative writing as a central part of their art-making process, and exhibition strategies.
Through guided in-class exercises, participants will use writing to better understand the work they are making, or would like to make. For homework, students will use writing prompts to produce, sequence and present richer work, which will be reviewed in class.
Students will leave this class with the tools to combine creative writing and visual art, and create a more complex experience for their audience.
