Continuing our Contemplative Calligraphy practice with the broad-nib Pilot Parallel Pen, we further explore the Italic hand, which dates back to the early Renaissance in Italy. This elegant hand is highly versatile and compact, making it practical for addressing envelopes and for rendering longer quotations and poetry. Emphasis will be on consistency in spacing as well as the letterforms themselves, plus basic composition and layout considerations for calligraphic art.
