Claude Code in Action

Claude Code in Action teaches you to run Claude Code past the quick task and trust the result. You will scope and steer long sessions, write instructions Claude actually follows, enforce the rules that cannot be skipped, hand off work to hands-off and scheduled runs, and verify what came back when no one was watching. By the end you can point Claude at hours of work, walk away, and check what it did with confidence.

Syllabus

Steer the Work

Learn to keep Claude on track across a long session. You will scope work with plan mode, direct compaction so summaries keep what matters, use the rewind menu to course-correct, and choose between hands-on steering and autonomous goal and loop runs.

Configure Claude

Set up the three instruction surfaces so Claude behaves the way your project needs. You will write a lean CLAUDE.md Claude actually follows, package repeated procedures as skills, pick the right permission mode for each job, and enforce the non-negotiable rules with hooks.

Automate Repeat Work

Stop doing by hand the tasks you already trust. You will schedule prompts as routines on Anthropic infrastructure, drop to headless mode when a job needs your own pipeline, and wire Claude into pull requests with managed code review and the GitHub action.

Verify and Share

Make hands-off work safe and portable. You will verify unsupervised runs in proportion to how little you watched them, gate turns on real test results with hooks, and package a setup you trust as a plugin your whole team can install.
