Uncover the major wine denominations of Italy's two most celebrated islands: Sicilia and Sardegna. This class examines renowned appellations including Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Etna, Marsala, Cannonau di Sardegna, and Vermentino di Gallura, among many others. Students will explore where these wines are produced, the grape varieties behind them, their flavor profiles and stylistic significance, and an introduction to the foods and cultures of each island.
A portion of the session will be devoted to reviewing southern Italian regions covered in prior classes, building context, and reinforcing prior learning.
