Genetics and Cancer - What It Means for You and Your Family

This course dived moderately with several hereditary syndromes that may be inherited that can cause an increased risk in Cancer. I was particularly amazed by how many of these syndromes have linked to an increased risk of breast cancer. Proper screening and Prevention of cancer were enhanced as a better way to reduce the risk of fatality with cancer. I was also amazed by the how someone came up with targetting the PARP pathway to prevent Cancer from developing and surviving even more. Cancer is one of the diseases that so many people die of, and to hear the major relief that there is knowledge in using Genetics to cure some of those with Cancer that have inherited the genetic mutation of an increased risk has made me more motivated with the knowledge of genetics in making a change in the world of medicine.
