Join John Wright from U.C. Berkeley as he presents a lecture on detecting and locating unentanglement in quantum systems, followed by a panel discussion with Stephen Jordan (Google) and Robert Huang (Caltech). Explore the fascinating problem of locating unentanglement, where two unentangled n-qubit states are scrambled to produce a 2n-qubit state, and the challenge is to identify which n qubits belong to each original state. While the SWAP test can detect unentanglement and a quantum union bound approach exists, Wright presents a breakthrough efficient polynomial-time algorithm inspired by the hidden subgroup problem. Learn about this joint work with Adam Bouland and Tudor Giurgică-Tiron, presented as part of the Simons Institute's Quantum Colloquium series.
