The course aims to provide an overview of women, law and access to justice in India. The course traces its historicity and takes into account the journey of women’s access to justice in colonial past. It is designed to equip learners know about the constitutional provisions, the fundamental law of the land and the source from which all the legislative provisions emanate.
The course covers the domain of personal law, labour laws and the sphere of criminal laws, and how are women’s concerns situated under these domains. The course integrates theoretical knowledge with case studies to equip learners with analytical skills and critical thinking oriented to advocacy, policy and professional settings.
