Guest speaker Kent Wien is a 3rd generation Alaskan pilot who learned to fly on a frozen lake in Alaska. He soloed at 13 in an ultralight on skies then went on to fly the north slope, the villages of western Alaska and even on a Navy contract at an Arctic research base, landing near open leads or gaps in the floating ice. Today, he flies the 777 from NY to Europe and taking his Aviat Husky with his partner Kristin and their pup, Rudder, frozen lakes including Alton Bay, NH. He brings to us a well-rounded perspective of how winter environmental elements can impact a pilot and their flight performance. Discover how you can prepare your aircraft and yourself to withstand the elements.
