This course and its delivery mechanism is designed to provide pilots a means to learn the basics of flying the traffic pattern, self-announcing position and intentions when in the pattern, and building situational awareness of other aircraft in the traffic pattern. The course material is delivered through the Aviation Radio Simulator, ARSim, which provides step-by-step description of pattern positions, location and intentions reporting, and radio communication phraseology for making self-announcement reports. Knowledge of this critical information and proficiency of radio communication when in the pattern enhances safety and improves efficiency. In this course users will learn the basics of the pattern and radio communication phraseology and procedures, and will assess their knowledge and proficiency through the built-in touch-based and voice-based interactive questions and scenarios.
