Bring your cinematic storytelling to life with Unreal Engine Sequencer by learning how to design, build, and render professional-quality cinematic sequences. In this course, you will progress from the fundamentals of the Sequencer workflow to creating polished, multi-shot scenes with animated actors, cinematic cameras, visual effects, and production-ready rendering. You'll begin by exploring the Sequencer interface, creating basic cinematics, animating actors with keyframes, and building dynamic camera shots using cine cameras. As you advance, you'll organize complex scenes with subscenes, refine character animations, troubleshoot transform issues, and develop seamless multi-shot sequences. Finally, you'll enhance your projects with particle effects, fade transitions, crane and rail camera rigs, and optimized rendering settings for high-quality cinematic output. This course is designed for learners who want to develop practical Unreal Engine cinematic production skills for games, films, or virtual production. Through hands-on exercises across four structured modules, you'll gain the ability to construct, refine, and render compelling cinematic sequences using industry-standard Sequencer workflows. Whether you're building your first cinematic or expanding your real-time storytelling skills, this course provides a structured path to creating polished, presentation-ready scenes in Unreal Engine.

Syllabus

  • Getting Started with Sequencer
    • This module introduces learners to the foundational features of the Sequencer tool in Unreal Engine. Learners will explore the interface, build basic cinematics, animate actors, manipulate transforms, and set up professional-grade cine cameras. Through a series of step-by-step activities, they will gain confidence in crafting camera movements, organizing shots, and fine-tuning their sequences using keyframes and previewing tools. The focus is on hands-on learning that prepares learners to produce simple but effective cinematic sequences in a real-time 3D environment.
  • Working with Actors and Subscenes
    • This module guides learners through the intermediate techniques of animating characters and structuring cinematic scenes using Unreal Engine’s Sequencer. Learners will work with animated actors such as the bear character, manage and clean up cine cameras, and organize scenes using subscene tracks. Through hands-on exercises, they will develop skills in animation timing, blending, subscene nesting, and troubleshooting transform issues to maintain smooth, consistent motion. By the end of the module, learners will be able to build more complex and modular cinematic sequences.
  • Multi-Shot Editing and Enhancements
    • This module advances learners' skills in cinematic storytelling by focusing on multi-shot editing, camera animation, and visual effect integration using Unreal Engine’s Sequencer. Learners will explore techniques for duplicating and refining shots, transitioning between scenes with precision, and enhancing visual engagement through particle systems. Through structured exercises, they will build a seamless, multi-camera narrative while managing subscenes, fade tracks, and layered camera logic. The goal is to develop a polished and immersive cinematic sequence with dynamic visual appeal.
  • Cinematic Effects and Rendering
    • This module guides learners through the final stages of cinematic sequence production in Unreal Engine. It focuses on enhancing visual transitions using fade effects, implementing realistic camera movements with rig setups, and preparing for final output. Learners will apply cinematic polish through advanced techniques including camera rig crane and rail systems, optimized render settings, and playback validation. The culmination of this module results in a fully composed and rendered cinematic ready for presentation or integration into a larger production.
