Strengthen your ability to operate analytics solutions at enterprise scale by mastering security, governance, and deployment automation in Microsoft Fabric. This hands-on course focuses on the operational discipline required to move from working prototypes to secure, production-ready implementations. You’ll monitor and scale Fabric capacities to balance performance and cost, configure workspace roles and item permissions using least-privilege principles, and implement row-level, object-level, and column-level security within semantic models. You’ll enable Git integration for version control, manage feature branches, and resolve merge conflicts. You’ll also configure multi-stage deployment pipelines, promote items across environments with environment-specific rules, and automate deployments using .pbip files and Azure DevOps pipelines. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to secure, govern, and deploy complete Fabric solutions with clear architectural documentation—ensuring reliability, compliance, and scalability in enterprise environments.

Syllabus

  • Capacity Monitoring and Autoscaling
    • Interpret capacity metrics dashboards, identify performance issues, and configure autoscaling policies.
  • Workspace Roles and Item Permissions
    • Assign workspace roles appropriately and configure item-level permissions for granular control.
  • SQL Access Controls with GRANT/DENY
    • Configure SQL-level access controls for granular table and column permissions.
  • Row-Level Security (RLS)
    • Create RLS roles that filter data based on user identity.
  • Object-Level Security (OLS) and Column-Level Security (CLS)
    • Configure security that hides entire objects or columns rather than filtering rows.
  • Git Integration and Branching
    • Enable Git integration, create feature branches, and establish version control workflow.
  • Resolving Merge Conflicts
    • Identify and resolve merge conflicts when integrating feature branches.
  • Deployment Pipeline Configuration
    • Set up deployment pipelines and configure rules for safe promotion across environments.
  • CI/CD with .pbir and Azure DevOps
    • Build automated deployment pipelines for Power BI reports using the .pbir format and Azure DevOps. (Note: .pbir is in Preview but widely used for CI/CD workflows.)
  • XMLA Endpoint Deployments
    • Understand XMLA endpoint deployment and write TMSL/PowerShell scripts for programmatic model updates.
  • End-to-End Solution Assembly
    • Assemble and document a complete Fabric solution from ingestion through reporting.
  • Architecture Documentation and Presentation
    • Create comprehensive documentation and communicate architecture effectively.
  • Adapt Solution to New Context Project
    • Integrate all Long Course 5 skills and synthesize the entire program by adapting an end-to-end solution to a new industry context with complete documentation.
