Suicidality in children and adolescents is rarely straightforward, but with the right knowledge, early signs can sometimes be recognized before a crisis occurs. This course is designed to help parents, caregivers, educators, and the general public feel more informed and better prepared when supporting the mental health of young people.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
1. Understand why suicide is often not "out of the blue" — and what that means in practice
2. Identify common myths about suicide that can get in the way of early action
3. Understand the suicidal mental process and its earlier stages
4. Notice warning signs even when children do not openly express how they feel
5. Recognize harmful self-narratives
6. Feel more confident about what to say, what to do, and when to seek professional help
This course focuses on early awareness and recognition — not crisis intervention or counseling. No clinical background is required. It is not a replacement for professional mental health care, but awareness and early recognition matter — and this course provides the tools to build both.
