A Linux system in isolation has no enterprise value. This course teaches you how to connect your systems to real networks — and how to control who can access them and what they can do. You'll start with local identity management: creating and modifying user accounts and groups, configuring system-wide environment profiles, setting user resource limits, managing delegated privileges, and integrating Linux systems with LDAP-based enterprise directories. From there, the focus shifts to networking. You'll configure IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, set up hostname and DNS resolution, and verify the status of network services in production environments. The course then builds into advanced configurations: bridge and bonding devices for redundancy, packet filtering with firewall rules, port redirection, and network address translation. The final module covers the high-availability and security patterns that enterprise administrators rely on: reverse proxies, load balancers, time synchronization, and SSH server and client configuration. Every topic is supported by hands-on labs that place you in realistic network engineering scenarios. Who this is for: IT professionals, network engineers, and DevOps administrators with foundational Linux CLI skills who are ready to manage networked, multi-user Linux environments at an enterprise level.

Syllabus

  • User and Group Administration
    • This module introduces the Linux identity administration tasks needed to manage local accounts and group membership. Learners create, modify, and remove users and groups while applying the account structures used in day-to-day system administration.
  • Environment and Identity Services
    • This module focuses on the environment, privilege, and directory-service settings that shape how users work on Linux systems. Learners manage system-wide profiles, template environments, resource limits, delegated privileges, root access, and LDAP-based identity integration.
  • Core Networking and Services
    • This module introduces the essential networking tasks Linux administrators perform to keep systems reachable and services available. Learners configure IP networking, hostname resolution, and service status checks across common Linux environments.
  • Advanced Networking and Security
    • This module expands Linux networking into the secure and high-availability patterns administrators use in more complex environments. Learners work with bridges, bonding, firewall rules, NAT, reverse proxies, load balancers, time synchronization, routes, and SSH server and client configuration.
