Intermediate Excel with AI is a hands-on, intermediate-level course designed to help existing Excel users take their skills to the next level by creating more automated low maintenance worksheets. This course focuses on managing data and generating reports using a range of powerful Excel features combined with practical AI assistance. Across six structured modules, you will move from data preparation and transformation through to advanced analysis, automation, and interactive dashboard creation. Master data cleaning, conditional logic, and scalable modeling with tables and named ranges. You will learn lookup functions like VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP, then integrate these skills using PivotTables, Charts, and dashboards for professional reporting. Throughout the course, you’ll work through a realistic HR analytics scenario where you manage and analyse a large, imperfect staff dataset to uncover trends in hiring, workforce composition, and leave patterns. Along the way, you’ll also learn how to use AI tools as a thinking partner to build formulas, troubleshoot errors, and speed up your workflow. By the end, you'll design clean, automated workbooks, build dynamic reports with PivotTables, and present insights through interactive dashboards — skills that stand out in any data-facing role. The course is ideal for business professionals, HR, finance, and operations teams, analysts, and anyone who has basic Excel skills and wants to advance their skills, including the integration of AI tools, to work at a more advanced, confident level. Join professionals who are advancing their careers by working smarter with data.

Syllabus

  • Clean & Transform Data
    • This module is about mastering the tools that help clean, reshape, and prepare data for effective reporting and analysis. In the process however we will also lay the groundwork for confident, efficient Excel use revisiting key concepts, and outlining best practise.
  • Conditional Logic
    • This module focuses on using conditional logic to make your spreadsheets more responsive and insightful. You’ll learn how to use interactive tools like checkboxes and conditional formatting as well as a range of IF based functions to solve real-world problems and highlight key patterns.
  • Smart Structures
    • This module, we shift from calculations to designing smarter inputs and scalable frameworks. You’ll learn how to use named ranges, tables, slicers, and dropdowns to build dynamic, user-friendly models that support automation, analysis, and decision-making.
  • Lookups
    • Lookup functions are an important feature in Excel as they allow us to automate processes like looking up additional data in master data sets, cross checking and even categorising. In this module we’ll dive deep into both the VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP functions and unpack exactly how they work to help you master both.
  • PivotTables
    • Up to this point have invested real effort in preparing and organising our data and now we get to see why that work matters. In this module, we will use PivotTables to transform well‑designed datasets into clear, flexible summary reports. You’ll learn how to build PivotTables from scratch, refine them with grouping, sequencing, calculations, and formatting, and enhance them with slicers to create interactive, self‑service reporting experiences.
  • Pivot Charts & Dashboards
    • PivotTables are great, but pictures are better and so in this module we’ll learn how to create Pivot Charts to graphically represent our PivotTables. We’ll then pull all the Pivot Charts along with other graphical elements into a single interactive dashboard elevating Excel from a spreadsheet to a lightweight Business Intelligence platform.
