Overview

Develop your wine appreciation abilities and strengthen your tasting expertise with this entry-level course, now available in an accessible online format.

You will explore the science of how taste perception functions and learn to evaluate critical wine components, including acidity, tannin levels, residual sugar content, and other defining structural elements. Build your personal wine description vocabulary while developing confidence in identifying wines you prefer and communicating your tastes to others. This course provides an excellent introduction to wine exploration for those beginning their journey, or serves as preparation for pursuing entry-level to intermediate wine certification qualifications.

Online Participation Details:

  • You will receive your Zoom meeting link and any course materials several days prior to your class date via email. Please check your spam folder and reach out to [email protected] if you have not received these materials within one business day before your scheduled class.
  • If you choose to participate in wine tastings, your tasting kit may be picked up at San Francisco Wine School or shipped throughout the United States.
  • Wine tasting notes and sampling parameters are provided for participants in regions where tasting kits cannot be delivered. Review pickup and delivery options here.
  • You may participate in the online course without wines by selecting the "Skip the Wine" option when registering.
  • Wine descriptions and preparation guidance are provided with your course materials kit.
