BGP v4.1 - Configuring BGP on Cisco Routers (Live Online)

via CourseHorse

Overview

Configuring BGP on Cisco Routers version 4.0 provides comprehensive instruction in Border Gateway Protocol, the fundamental routing protocol underlying the Internet, and advanced technologies such as Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS). This comprehensive curriculum covers BGP theory, practical configuration of BGP on Cisco IOS routers, thorough troubleshooting techniques, and hands-on exercises that equip learners with the expertise to configure and troubleshoot BGP networks in real-world customer environments. Service provider scenarios throughout the curriculum address BGP network design considerations and best practices for using various BGP features, preparing learners to design and deploy efficient, optimized, and stable BGP networks.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot basic BGP to enable interdomain routing in multi-domain network scenarios
  • Apply BGP policy controls to influence route selection in networks requiring connections to multiple ISPs
  • Use BGP attributes to guide the route selection process in networks with multiple provider connections
  • Successfully connect customer networks to the Internet in scenarios requiring multiple BGP connections
  • Configure service provider networks to function as transit autonomous systems with multiple BGP connections
  • Enable route reflection to address BGP scaling challenges in service provider networks with multiple autonomous system connections
  • Apply available BGP tools and features to optimize the scalability of BGP deployments

Course Prerequisites:

Participants should possess:

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Cisco IOS Software configuration and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, and IS-IS routing protocols
  • Knowledge equivalent to these foundational courses:
  • Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 and Part 2 (ICND1 v2.0 and ICND2 v2.0), or Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Accelerated Version 2.0 (CCNAX v2.0)
  • Implementing Cisco IP Routing (ROUTE v2.0)
  • Building Cisco Service Provider Next-Generation Networks Part 1 (SPNGN1) v1.2
  • Building Cisco Service Provider Next-Generation Networks Part 2 (SPNGN2) v1.2

Target Audience:

Primary Audience

Network administrators, network engineers, network managers, and systems engineers implementing BGP in production networks.

Secondary Audience

Network designers and project managers responsible for BGP architecture and implementation. This course is also beneficial for individuals preparing for BGP certification exams.

Course Modules:

  • Module 1: BGP Overview and Fundamentals
  • Module 2: BGP Transit Autonomous Systems
  • Module 3: Route Selection Using Policy Controls
  • Module 4: Route Selection Using Attributes
  • Module 5: Customer to Provider Connectivity with BGP
  • Module 6: Scaling Service Provider Networks
